Obama has authority to close Gitmo

An American political commentator says Barack Obama has the authority as the president of the United States to close the Guantanamo prison as he believes torture is bad.

“If the Obama administration feels that torture is not in line with US foreign policy, then it should close the Guantanamo Bay camp that is on occupied Cuban territory,” Editor of Pan-African News Wire Abayomi Azikiwe told Press TV on Sunday.

He made the remarks after President Obama acknowledged that the United States tortured some people after the September 11, 2001 terror attacks against the country.
